OUTDOOR GEAR
As a hybrid indoor/outdoor school, Skillern students must be prepared for learning in a variety of settings. We want our students to have the right clothing and gear for warm, cold, and wet weather. See the following list of required outdoor gear which may be purchased from any vendor.
Rain boots
Rain jacket
Sunhat
Insulated winter boots
Mittens/gloves
Winter hat
All outerwear (including hats, coats, gloves, boots, etc) should be free of images or messaging of any kind. Brand names are permitted. Variety in colors and patterns such as stripes or dots as well as nature patterns (like a floral design) are allowed.
Shoes
Because of the hybrid nature of the Skillern model, students should be prepared with trail shoes (keens, hiking boots, tennis shoes) and indoor slip on shoes (to wear indoors when trail shoes are too dirty). All shoes must be closed toed with hard, non-slip soles. Indoor shoes can stay at school.
Students must be able to put on and fasten their own shoes, so if your student cannot tie their own shoes, make sure to pick a velcro option.
Shoes ands socks may be any color but should be completely image free. Laced shoes must be tied at all times.
